Just bought this two weeks ago. This morning I had a blow out of the front tire at ~40 mph on a 15% downhill approaching a 90 degree turn right as I was getting ready to brake. Ended up landing on my forehead at speed after a skid ended in a flip. Helmet cracked in 8 places but held together and I didn't even get a concussion. Would not have survive with the helmet it replaced. Will definitely be wearing a Prevail when I get back on the bike in a few weeks.

During a couple long, hot climbs this summer on the California back roads I felt so hot that I wanted to take my helmet off to feel cooler. Instead, I went to Mike's Bikes to find a better ventilated helmet with better sweat pads. The Specialized Prevail caught my attention right away, it's very light, the fit is easy to adjust and it has a lot of sweat pads inside. I tried it on and walked around and immediately felt how great it ventilated. I bought it. On my first ride, it felt like I almost didn't have a helmet on. It feels extremely light on my head and I feel air flowing all around my skull. I've had it for over a month now and have ridden 4.5 rides that ended in 97 degree temps. It provides great ventilation, the chin straps are thin and don't get soggy, the sweat pads dry quickly (this is great when you take a break and put the helmet back on), and although I still get sweat in my eyes on long climbs with no breeze, it's much, much less than my other helmet. Overall this is a fantastic helmet for hot temps.

This has a great feel helped by its amazingly lightweight design and awesome airflow to cool you down.

I bought this helmet to replace an aging Bell Sweep helmet. While it is considerably more expensive than the Bell, I can say with honesty that this is probably the lightest helmet I've ever owned. The fit was superb right out of the box and apart from tightening the chin strap about a 1/4 inch there was nothing else to do but wear and ride. The ventilation is exceptional and I can mirror the comments of previous reviewers who say that it can feel like you have you have your own personal air conditioner especially in hot weather (living in Northern California can get really dry and hot in the summer months). Thankfully, I've not had the misfortune to crash while wearing this helmet (and hopefully never will) but the helmet feels solid and secure at all times without restricting head movement so at least for me, it inspires confidence. The Prevail does cost a pretty penny but I would say it's worth it as just about any top of the line helmet is close to the price of this beauty so try it on at your LBS and see how it feels. Highly recommended.

Wow helmets have come a long way. I remember when they consisted of 4 leather straps or big chunks of styrofoam. This helmet is a little lighter than my last helmet but the ventilation is a big improvement, It's taken away my last "argument" for not wearing a helmet namely they are too hot. I would bet that this lid cools the head better than no helmet at all. Highly recommend this product.

Hardly even notice this helmet is on my dome, but know it will keep me safe. Well designed and comfortable, plenty of airflow. Probably the best feature though is the way the strap avoids all contact with the ears... Man I use to hate that on other helmets!
Comments:
The S-works Prevail helmet is not only great looking, but incredibly comfortable. Even after hours of riding, there is nothing that becomes uncomfortable about the helmet. For the ladies, the adjustable back of the helmet is perfect for using with pony tails.

This is the helmet of choice. The lightest helmet I have ever ridden. It looks great, keeps the head ventilated. Never leave home without it.

Comments:
The fit of the helmet is excellent. It is superlight, has incredible ventilation, and the chin strap is barely noticeable. This is by far the best helmet I've owned. I recently crashed on wet roads doing 30+ mph and my bike and body got pretty torn up, but my head was not affected at all. The helmet broke apart like it is supposed to and stayed exactly where it is supposed to on my head throughout the wreck. We buy helmets to protect us and this one is absolutely the best both while riding and when hitting the pavement. I bought another one same day.

I had this helmet 3 weeks. Crashed, hit the back of my head on road at 15mph. Got up, rode home, found back of helmet was split in back. It truly saved my life.
