We got this for our son as his first bike after much research and LOVED IT. Most of the 3-4 year olds you see riding bikes on YouTube are riding Specialized Hot Rocks. Unlike other kids bikes that are designed with heavy chrome, poor frame fits, and lots of kiddy branding, cartoons, etc., this is a REAL bike designed for the little biker by big bikers. For some reason, most other brands don't put much thought into how to make a bike easy for little kids to ride. You'd think that would come first, but it doesn't. After 18 months on a strider, my son hopped on this bike and was riding around our complex after 20 or 30 minutes. I have the videos on YouTube, and it is CLASSIC. The giggles from the first time he got the hang of it are UNFORGETTABLE. He loved every minute of it until he outgrew it. Now, we're going back for a 16 incher at Mike's. Anyway, my family and I mountain bike a lot, so I did a decent amount of web reading, and most parents said this is the bike to get. I really recommend it.

We got this for my boy's 3rd birthday. He was riding a balance bike before, and he was ready for a step up. I compared this to another brand's 12" bike, which is also very nice, but this one is much lighter yet only a little more expensive. The weight difference alone sold me. It makes a big difference when the kiddos have to pick it up, push it over obstacles, etc. He loves it! We liked enough that we bought another one for my 2 year old, now that we took the training wheels off the first one. It's worth the extra $ - you and your child won't be disappointed!
