I bought this to do around town biking and bike trails since my mountain bike wasnt geared highly enough to do the job when the miles piled on. The difference is incredible. While it takes a little bit to get used to the different position and hard ride of a road bike, it makes the rides much faster and easier. For the price you are getting a well crafted bike which should keep any cycling novice happy. I can't speak to more expensive models being better but you cant go wrong with this bike. Was also a pleasant buying experience at rock n road, I wasnt pressured to buy a more expensive model and they took time to understand my needs and explain the benefits vs my current bike. I had been a Trek guy but the service at the trek store was poor, and this bike looks better IMO.
Comments:
This bike is so much fun to ride it gets me up and out everyday. Don't let the fact that this is an "entry level" bike fool you - this thing is fast and solid. For someone like me that rides for fun, it's such a joy to pedal. My first time out with this bike after riding a hybrid was amazing - I set all personal record times on my usual route. Stop reading and get riding - you'll love this bike!

Similar to a few others who have reviewed this particular product, I have also upgraded to this from a lower-end, <$300 bicycle. The Shimano Claris groupset coupled with the light, stiff frame gives me the capability to ride faster for longer distances. After indexing, the gear changes are crisp and effortless. The Shimano STI brake lever/shift design is a drastic improvement to other types of gear lever applications as it is highly ergonomic. The bike is fitted with high quality components from tip to tip and the availability and ease of upgrading or replacing these components is a high note for me. The seat fits me well, however, this shouldn't be mentioned since it will be a case by case situation. Overall, the price is right and I have no regrets on this purchase yet. So far this bike feels like an extension of my body. Remember that prior to purchasing your bike that you have it fitted to you. The helpful Spokes Persons will assist you in your journey.

I ride about 20 miles a day and love my new Allez ! It shifts and brakes very nicely and even the seat draws praise . The frame is stiff and handles very good, and it's light weight helps it roll with very little effort ! This bike was worth every penny, totally satisfied with it !!!!

I put about 25 miles, 3 times a week on this bike. Used to ride an aggressive geometry fixed gear, aluminum track bike w/ carbon fork. The Allez has been much more comfortable, practical, fast and most importantly fun to ride. I found this to be a great affordable entry road bike. All the components have been solid and work really well. I upgraded the pedals to clipless shimanos, bought a pair of cycling shoes/cleats and that was really the only thing the bike needs to increase performance. Hard to find a bike that looks and functions this well at this price point. Pretty sure I won't need to upgrade for a very very long time, extremely happy with the Allez. Outside of minimizing weight for racing, I don't understand why you would pay more for a road bike when the Allez is an option.

I got this to replace the boat anchor I was riding. the bike is light and fast. My only complaint is the seat. It was way too narrow and I'm not a big guy.

This is my first road bike bought about 2 months ago and have put well over 250 miles on the bike so far. Started out riding my usual 10 mile route and took over 5 minutes off my average time the first ride. Very fast and agile although a bit rough on bad roads. I did have to put on a gel seat cover and would recommed bicycle shorts for the longer rides. Overall a very very good entry level road bike.

The Allez is perfect for anyone, but mostly the beginner cyclist. Amazing design and still lightweight! Great 1st bike!
Comments:
Had the bike for 7 years. 50-75 mile per week, 40 weeks per year. Several longer rides each summer, mostly on the road for exercise. I have had zero mechanical issues. The only failure on a long route was a shifter cable coming loose. I'm a bit heavier than a normal rider (6'0 - 215) so I probably have put a bit more stress on it than most. Had to move to move from a more upright bike due to knee issues. For some reason being more bent over is much easier on me knees. This bike fit/geometry really helped.
