Shimano's 24-speed drivetrain provides a wide range of gears for easy climbing, while the powerful linear-pull brakes control your speed on the fun back down. And thanks to the flat handlebars and comfort-oriented riding position, you'll finish every ride feeling great.

Bought this bike about 9 months ago, a long overdue upgrade to an old Peugeot.. love it. I generally ride about 100 miles a week during the summer, 40 - 50 in the winter. I just dropped the bike off to have aero bars installed. Can't wait to hit the road again.

Used for cardio work out. Ride short to medium distance at fast pace. Not a con, but I am not used to the shifting. Learning on the fly and would not change a thing. The green color of the 2015 is fantastic. 1st Specialized bike and will never buy another brand.

Update to review "Great Bike"
Pros:
Lightweight, Versatile
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting/City
Purchased the bike in 2011 and have put on over 1600 miles in the last 3 years. I don't get to ride as often as I like but when I do it's usually 10+ miles a day. I really enjoy the bike, it's a lot of fun to ride. It's fast, but not as fast as a road bike. Still it's a great all around bike.

Great Bike!
Pros:
Fast and Smooth Ride, Lightweight, Company Reputation, Comfortable, Durable, Value, Versatile
Cons:
Best Uses:
Secondary Bike, Commuting/City
I can be found primarily riding a Roubaix. I purchased the Sirrus as my slow-speed/fun/comfort bike. The Sirrus is very comfortable, a lot of fun, and actually can be quite fast, slow too when wanted or needed. Also rides well in the grass. I could actually see a much longer trip aboard now that I have a bike to mount racks upon. Honestly, I couldn't be any happier and I purchased the base model.
PS- I did a lot of shopping beforehand and expected to pay much more to find what I now have.

Good Looking, Easy Uphill, Lightweight, Handles Well Off-road
Cons:
Best Uses:

I bought the specialized 13' sirrus basic model yesterday at my LBS. The staff was so nice and he explained every questions to me patiently. As I just had this bike for a day, I am not ready to give any comments regarding its durability and components yet. However, I have been in a good position to say that this bike is a great one. I tried it today with 16km riding in a windy (40kph) and cold weather (1-3C), with a lot of uphill sections. I did not feel any fatigue. The riding was so easy and gear changing was very smooth and fast. Compared to my mountain bike, the riding experience is completely different. This bike is very light, weighing only 25 pounds. I am confident that I can start to commute from Richmond Hill to Downtown Toronto every day from next Monday except the bad weather days. The only thing I want to complain is about the seat which caused me a bit sore after 16km riding. I am going to replace it with a softer seat or put a gel cover on it.

This Bike is truly amazing. I bought it so that I could ride it to school (3.5 mi away) and it handles beautifully! All the components work great and I would truly recommend buying this bike. This is also my first REAL bike, as my previous one was the department variety, but its not too expensive, and still handles like a pro. Rock on cyclists, and take your adventures to the cosmos frontier with this hot ride!

Entry level to quality ride
Pros:

Cons:
Best Uses:
Long road rides, Exercizing, Commuting
bought it in christmas after getting tired of poor [@] quality mongoose bikes. If you really plan to use it, it is definitely worth the jump in quality for a very reasonably price. Components are not space age, but are very good quality, and that translates in an efficient and smooth ride. You can ride on road for many miles without feeling tired at all. I'm not giving it the 5 stars here just because the front Alex rim came with a minor imperfection that had to be removed. Other than that, extremely happy with the decision of buying a specialized bike

I'm 61 years old and 250 lbs. I got into cycling this year to help remove some of the excess me. Pulled a 30 yr old [...]10 speed out of the attic and put 300 miles on it before it gave out. After researching I bought this bike and love it. It's light weight, fast and fun to ride. It has plenty of gears to flatten out the hills that I couldn't get up before. I've had the bike 5 days and put 45 miles on it. This is a great bike at a reasonable price.

I got this bike to use as exercise on days I don't run; I wanted something fast yet comfortable. I really enjoy riding it, its light, comfortable (somewhat upright) and I love the way it looks. It doesn't have suspension so rough roads can be jarring, but on smooth roads the miles just fly by. I rode this bike for 2 hours and had NO soreness or stiffness. My next bike will a Specialized.

Pros:
Lightweight, Great Components, Really good looking
Cons:
Best Uses:

I bought this bike after having a Diamondback Miravista that I liked a lot, but the frame was a little too small for me. So I was looking for a fitness style bike with good components, like the 700c wheels, easy fire shifters, aluminum frame, and needed the heavy duty wheels. so it was between the Trek 7.2 and this one. I rode them both and the Specialized was a better fit for me. I'm sure the Trek would have been a great bike too, but what can I say...I liked the RED, and the shape of the frame was cool too. I haven't had this bike long enough to comment on the durability, but its looks solid enough...We'll see!

I got this as a first time bike in several years to start riding to work(About 8 Miles). So far the bike is great. It reacts and hadles well. The only bad thing is how hard the seat is especially if you are a big guy which I am. But a seat cover fixes that up real quick.

good beginner bike
Pros:
Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Pavement
Have had this bike for 2 weeks and have no complaints, put 60 miles on it so far so good.
I've had this bike for almost 4 years now and it's great. It's smooth to ride and very durable. It's never needed anything other than a minor tune up. Extremely light for its price, I'm 100lbs and have no problems carrying it up and down stairs. It has large wheels that are pretty thin and goes fast with minimal effort.
A few minor cons, the seat is on the narrow side and not that comfortable. While great on paved roads, you can feel every bump on bad roads. The brake wires run along the frame and are not covered, so you have to be careful how you hold the frame. The biggest downside is that the frame is not linear in any way. This along with the brake wire placement makes it practically impossible to mount any accessories. I can't mount a U lock mount, no kickstand, no spoiler. Even just a bell and lights took a lot of creative thinking. If you're okay carrying everything in a backpack, this is not a problem.
Overall, it's great for the casual, recreational riders and it gets you where you need to go fast. But not great for off road or as a work horse, if you need to carry a lot of stuff.

07 Specialized Sirrus
Pros:
Great Components, Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting, Pavement
I have bicycled over 6, 000 miles per year for over 30 years using many different bikes. Bought the Sirrus from a neighbor who was moving. I only used it on pavement, but after several thousand miles I have not had to adjust anything. Put aero bars on it so I could use it as a back up for group rides. For the money it is a great cross over bike.
Seat too wide for men, Alex R500 rims weak, Poor Component Selection
Best Uses:
Commuting, Climbing, Pavement, Cycle Cross Racing
I have the 2007 Sirrus.
I was used to mountain bikes and wanted bike to ride road. I was not ready for a full road bike so the Sirrus made sense. It can be configured as a flat bar road bike or made into a more off road capable bike with just some wider tires with tread and climber bars.
If you can only own one bike, this could work well. I just did a 40 mile road race with it and it was fast and comfortable. I only added 23mm tires, clip pedals, aero bars and a different seat.
Only problems have been with the Alex R500 rims. I am 220lbs and the rims just can't take the stress. They have gone out of true and loosened up several times. If you are a lightweight, you probably won't have this issue.

however, my only problem is the pedals...i am already upgrading them with the shimano pd-m520.

Great bike to transition to road with!
Pros:
Great balance, Durable, Great Components
Cons:
Poor Off-road Handling, Pedals
Best Uses:

The Sirrus is a great bike to transition from Mountain riding to road riding. Buy prepared to change out the pedals, the stock cages can rub against the bike if not fully tightened on your shoe. I put on the pair of pedals I already had and they work great. Best bike for the money and great for long charity rides.

Great all around bike for the price!
Pros:
Quick Agile, Great Components, Lightweight, Durable
Cons:
Best Uses:
Commuting, Pavement
I bought the Sirrus Sport, which is a slight upgrade from the basic model due to having thumb shifters, rather than the twist shifters. A couple of different gearheads told me the twisties tend to stick a little over time and I wanted to avoid that. Otherwise, it is the same bike and it is a great ride! Light, quick, easy to maneuver in city traffic (NYC). I use this bike for commuting and for exercise, and I couldn't recommend a more solid choice for cyclists with similar needs.

Fast and Durable City Bike
Pros:
Lightweight, Durable, Great Value
Cons:
Tires pick up flats, Spongy Seat Post
Best Uses:
Almost Everything, Pavement, Commuting
I used to own four bikes, and would ride each one depending on the weather or my mood. I needed to narrow my small fleet down to one bike that was capable of doing everything I wanted; commuting, fast weekend rides, and occasional touring. After much searching, I found that the Specialized Sirrus fulfilled all of my needs.
This bike is very versatile. It can accommodate wider tires, has braze-ons for racks and fenders (even for a front rack!), and it's light and fast. I went for the entry level Sirrus because I was unsure if the carbon fiber fork and stays on the next model up would be rugged enough to take what I dish out. I am glad I did because I scraped the fork up a bit leaning it up against some stairs, and that could weaken carbon fiber. I also like the fact that Specialized refrained from putting a shock on it making it lighter and simpler to maintain.
In the year and a half I have owned this bike, I have ridden it very hard and have beat it around a bit. I ride it year 'round and I keep it locked up outside in the elements; it has held up very well to two Chicago winters so far. Right after I bought it I installed fenders to keep the rain off of me, and upgraded the pedals to large BMX platforms so I can ride in my boots.
My only gripes about it are the tires, the seat post and the seat. The original tires picked up flats easily, so I installed a pair of flat resistant tires with reflective sidewalls, problem solved. I have a love/hate relationship with the seat. It sometimes feels like there is almost too much seat padding for my taste, but the shape is OK, so I put up with it. Also, there is stitching running around the top edges of the seat, letting water inside of it when it rains. I have to try to remember to put a bag over the seat or I will get a wet butt after it rains, even if it looks dry. The shock seat post smoothes out the ride, but sometimes the sponginess makes me think my back tire is flat. I tightened the spring tension as tight as it goes, but I still don't like it. As soon as I can afford it, I will be upgrading the seat and the seat post. These gripes are minor, but I wish Specialized had put a regular seat post and better tires on it.
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this bike and I plan on riding it for many years. After working as a bike mechanic, I found that Specialized somehow puts their bikes together better than anyone else; they seem to break less often than bikes from other manufactures. The Sirrus is a tough bike, and will possibly last me for the rest of my life; if I take decent care of it.
If you are not sure about exactly what type of riding you will do, or if you need a good all-around bike, this is the bike to get.
Great bike for on the road, off road, trail, fitness training...it is able to go on varied type of paths. I did some small upgrades, added adjustible handle stem - for my height, added cyclecross tires - for better traction off road, added better derailleur - for quick gear changes. The result is a great all round cycle that I ride on most rides. Leaving my road and mountain bikes at home.

Cons:

I picked up the '08 Sirrus about a month ago, and it has proved to be a fantastic choice for the 7 mile commute to work (north side to south loop). It comes with a great general selection of equipment that should suit anybody looking to pick up a fast city ride without sacrificing comfort. Also very good for paved trails around the lake. Coming from a mountain bike, this is a fantastic choice. More aggressive than the Globe, more practical than a strict road bike.

First off, don't buy a $150.00 department store bike! Go to a LBS (like Global) and get the real thing (it's cheaper by far in the long run). I purchased a Sirrus for commuting to work, and although I am used to a mountain bike, the slender 28mm tires on the Sirrus are so fast on the tarmac you just won't believe it! The bike is light enough to lift with a finger, and sturdy enough to take a beating. I've found that I like the hard-tail frame and fork, as the control given by this configuration is very precise. You loose the super soft ride, but the responsiveness gained is worth it (I just stand up when the road gets rough, which is easier to do with a rigid bike anyway). Most off roading suffers due to the thin slick tires, but hard packed dirt roads are still no trouble. I fitted mine with Specialized Armadillo tires and Slime tubes, as I live in Arizona, and thorns are plentiful. Other than that, you won't need to swap out much else, cuz it's all good! You can get a Sirrus with a frame that fits you (unlike dept store brands), and you won't be ashamed to be seen on it. Global also does your tune-ups free, forever! (Rember to keep you sales receipt).
